Out of the bottle and into the glass, the Dickel Hand Select lightens greatly, taking on a bright coppered, middle amber tone. It’s the kind of coloring where the copper doesn’t catch the light like a polished cook pot, but instead filters it like stained glass. The scent is floral with sweet citrus and honey, with a powerful stream of vanilla and caramel and notes of cookie spice and toasty wood. Compared to the Barrel Select, this whiskey has a bigger, richer and more complex nose. The silky texture oozes with vanilla, while the fruity sweetness balances off the dry, toasty wood and the spicy kick. While not nearly as mellow as other Dickel whiskeys, it’s still a very mellow sipper for a whiskey with an abv in the lower 50s. The kick is a light one, and comes straight from the spicy and woody flavors rather than from alcohol heat. Following on that last part, the finish is mild. A little toasty wood and sweetness lingers on the tongue, and while warm at first, the warmth quickly fades. All that adds up to Dickel Hand Select being a full step better than its cousin, Barrel Select. The two clearly share not just the same roots, but come from the same branch of the Dickel family tree. That said, the private barrel Hand Select is a much riper, fuller fruit.

Kentucky Spirit is a 101 proof (50.5% alcohol), single-barrel bourbon, with each barrel personally chosen by Master Distiller Jimmy Russell. Known for being fuller bodied, with rich vanilla flavors and a hint of sweetness, it’s the perfect bourbon to enjoy neat. A complex layering of almonds, honey, blackberries, and leather gives way to a long, dark and lingering finish.

Rich caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, spice, dark fruit and crushed smarties. It has an overall character that reminds me of a Caramel Machiatto from Starbucks, which is a really weird association to be popping into my brain because it’s been at least 7 years since I had one.
Spice, caramel, vanilla, red fruit, toasted grain, woody notes and marshmallows. The flavor doesn’t trigger the same association as the nose, but provides another shock instead… it’s good. Finish is l
ong and dark, sweet accompanied by light notes of red fruit, wood and nuts.
Crown Royal Hand Selected Barrel is good… at least this barrel anyways and being a single barrel the experience will change from barrel to barrel. But for a project like this brands tend to cherry pick the barrel samples they send out to stores. Putting their best foot forward and all of that.
This sample is rich and full across the nose and palate – I had a hard time not just downing the entire sample in one sitting. I’m simultaneously shocked and happy that this tastes as good as it does. I’ve tasted a bunch of terrible Canadian Whiskies lately and it’s nice to taste something that’s the polar opposite of that.

First created in 1874, Louis XIII Cognac is an exquisite blend of up to 1200 grapes eaux-de-vie sourced 100% from Grand Champagne, the first cru of the Cognac region. Each eau-de-vie is matured slowly inside oak cask. Each individually numbered decanter is designed after an original 16th century metal flask, discovered on the site of the battle of Jarnac in France and is made form fine crystal for generations, mouth blown by some of the most skilled master craftsmen.

The John Walker is the ultimate celebration of progress - an enduring tribute to the life, vision and legacy of the man who started it all.

Known as the Founder’s Blend, it uses only whiskies that would have been familiar to John Walker in his lifetime, some of which come from distilleries that are now silent. Just nine distilleries in total contribute exquisitely-made whiskies, which are blended by hand using traditional methods and in extremely limited quantities, before being married together in a 100-year-old cask.

Created by notorious Celler Master Yann Fillioux the eau-de-vie that made up the blend have been aging in 250 handmade, specially commisioned 250 litre Liousin oak barrels. Before the eaux-de-vie were placed in these, they had already been aged for at least a decade under 'optimum conditions'.
Rare and precious, this Cognac is a product of man's mastery over time. An uparalleled range of aromas gives Richard Hennessy its unique complexity. Powerful and unexpected, Richard Hennessy reaches heights that approach Cognac perfection.
A tribute to Richard Hennessy, who founded his enterprise in 1765, this Cognac is the embodiment of over 250 years of the history, knowledge and expertise of the Hennessy Maison. Created for connoisseurs of the greatest Cognacs, it brings together the past and the present in a blossoming encounter.
